Acoustic Treatment vs. Soundproofing — Choose the Right Product for Your Space and Your Needs. 

Acoustic foam panels are designed for sound treatment, meaning they reduce echo, control reverberation, and improve overall room acoustics. For effective sound treatment, at least 25–30% of the room’s reflective surfaces should be covered with acoustic panels.

Soundproofing, however, is very different — it requires dense, heavy materials and close to 100% surface coverage to block noise from entering or leaving a space.
